Washington, DC – Tax justice advocates from 19 states and many more congressional districts will convene in Washington this Wednesday, September 18th to deliver a clear message to Congress:

The 2017 tax law was heavily skewed toward the rich and big corporations. 2025 is our opportunity to make the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share.

The September 18th Tax Fairness Fly-in Day is hosted by and coincides with the launch of a revolutionary new organization, Fair Share America, which is uniting hundreds of state and federal partners including labor, educators, care economy, democracy, climate justice movements and more, who see our tax code as a unifying force to build stronger communities.

“2025 is our opportunity to make the rich and big corporations pay their fair share of taxes. A new, unified, and well-resourced effort through Fair Share America will help win this fight, including by putting a stake in the ground early – before the election and 16 months before the 2017 Trump tax cuts start to expire, when we meet with members of Congress on September 18th,” said Kristen Crowell, Executive Director of Fair Share America.

In their meetings with Members, advocates will discuss the public’s overwhelming desire to see Congress raise the corporate tax rate, ensure individuals and households making over $400,000 annually pay their fair share, and increase revenue / use revenues raised to finance investments in families, workers, and communities essential to growing the economy.
