Washington, DC – Yesterday, Fair Share America publicly launched with coverage in POLITICO Weekly Tax and POLITICO Influence, and will hold a press conference with tax writers Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO), & Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) this Wednesday, Sept. 18, at noon ET on Capitol Hill.

Fair Share’s Executive Director Kristen Crowell spoke with POLITICO’s Bernie Becker about how the innovative new organization is leveraging the overwhelming majority’s desire to see the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes and turning that support into direct engagement and political power as Congress revisits the federal tax code next year:

“If we do our job well over the next 15 months, what we will see and feel will be very different than what it’s been in the past,” Crowell said. “And that means people around the country knowing what’s happening, having input. We want elected officials hearing directly from their constituents on this.”

On Wednesday, Sept 18, at noon ET, Fair Share will join Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Representative Gwen Moore (D-WI), national movement leaders from labor to care to climate, and state-based advocates for a press conference at the House Triangle. Together, they will draw a line in the sand that we must make the tax code fairer by raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations next year.
